New Year, New Post!

Happy New Year Everyone!

In honor of this new year, I thought about starting this year off right with a new post! Everything gets to be so crazy with school, and then came the holidays which become even more chaotic. So here's for some new years resolutions:

1. Get better at staying in the present, focusing on the now!
2. Work at becoming more fit! (Typical resolution I know, I know.)
3. Eliminate things in my life that are making me less happy!

I hope everyone started off the new year right, however, that may be!

Bye for now!

What a Weekend!

Hello Lovelies,

It's been a while since I've spoken to you! Things have gotten pretty busy here at SCAD! But this weekend was extremely eventful. First off, Ingrid Michaelson's Acoustic Tour came to the Trustees Theatre! It was great!! She's fabulous live! What I was so surprised about was, she had a great opener! Sugar and the Hi-Lows are a band from Nashville, Tennessee with an old-school, bluesy sound that sounds straight out of Nashville! You guys should check em out, their album is on iTunes for $4.99!

In addition, Halloween is right around the corner!! So this weekend my friends and I decided to go to a pumpkin patch! We all found our perfect pumpkins, and my roommate made fresh pumpkin pie with hers!

Happy Fall Y'all!

Bye for now!

Fall Boots

Hello Lovelies!
I am so sorry for the delay! I'm super guilty of not posting as often as I should. I just moved back to Savannah, Georgia, as the new school year at SCAD has started back, so moving away from home has been just a little bit of a transition for me....However, that has not slowed my growing obsession for what is my favortie footwear for fall! BOOTS!!

Fall Boots
There are so many different styles of boots that are going to be popular this fall! Booties are definitely going to be a big thing this fall! Whether they are animal print or leather, peep toe or closed toe, booties are an awesome way to give any outfit a bit of an edge. In addition, to go along with the Equestrian trend that is catching on this fall, one cannot go wrong with riding boots! They are perfect with a nice blazer with jeans tucked inside! Although, I have saved the best for last with my favorite style for this season...Navajo print boots! I am just dying to get myself a pair for fall to wear with skinny jeans and oversized sweaters! I am hoping to find an ankle boot in particular, but I absolutely love the print! What kind of boots are you guys looking to adding to your Fall wardrobe? That's all for now!!

Trend 2: Color of the Season!

Hello Lovelies!

Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here! It seemed like a great time to share another fall trend with you guys! Usually each season there will be a few key colors that have repeatedly occurred in various designers collections. This season that color is oxblood (or burgundy or chianti, if you must), as it has appeared in collections such as Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY.

I have to admit, any shade of red has just never been a favorite of mine. However, this shade really has grown on me. I even purchased a pair of oxblood, patent leather loafers at Goodwill today (Pictures to come)!  I began to think about all the different options that this color had to offer! I thought about how I could wear it with black, brown, grey, navy, and (even on the rare occasion) khaki! And what is so cool about it, is that with each  different color you pair it with, each outfit would all have a different feel to it. For instance, when wearing an oxblood jacket with black ankle pants, I imagine a very chic and edgy look. However, when I think of wearing the same oxblood jacket with brown pants, it could have the potential to have a more equestrian (yet another trend this season!) look to it, which could be fabulous! The options with this are absolutely endless! You can add a statement piece to your outfit by adding maybe an oxblood blazer, but more subdued shades for the rest of the look. You could also play around with accessories and just add in pops of oxblood with your shoes or a bag or even a scarf! OR maybe you are just going to jump into fall trends full force and wear monochromatic oxblood! I say Go for it, the sky is the limit with this one!

What are your thoughts on this trend? How would you incorporate oxblood into your style?
Comment and share your thoughts!

Much Love,
Jade

Fall Fashion Trend Update!

Hello Lovelies!

Unfortunately, we all know that the time for summer to come to an end is upon us. For me, I always realize this when the September issue of all my favorite magazines make their way onto the shelves at the checkout counter of the grocery store! However, there is a feeling of excitement I feel as I let my fingers do the walking through those glossy pages in search of the latest trends for fall! I know I love to update my wardrobe season to season, and I'm sure y'all can understand what I'm feeling. So, I know you're just dying to know what's in store for you this season! But, I just can't seem to cram all these goodies into one post soooo... let me introduce to you Fall Trend Number 1:

Untitled #6

Yes, Baroque Prints indeed are a must for this season! Baroque prints can give any outfit a feeling of luxury and sophistication. Inspired by the artistic movement during the 1600's in Europe, these lavish prints can make you feel like royalty! Pair a blazer or cardigan like the one above with skinny jeans, a black tank, and some gold pumps or sandals(We are still transitioning from summer to fall!) to create a knock out look for dinner or even a casual look for work. Pump up the glamour and try a baroque skirt with heels  (or ballet flats!) and a simple black top for a night out with your beau or a fun night with the girls! Feeling a bit hesitant about playing with pattern? Don't be scared! Fashion is all about having fun and showing your personality through what you wear! Still not convinced? Take baby steps and add baroque print in with your accessories like the Versace sunglasses above. You could even add a pop of print with shoes or a bag. The thing about trends is we can incorporate them into our wardrobe to reflect our own personal style! The possibilities are endless!

Until next time,
Jade

A Brief Introduction!

Hello Lovelies!
Welcome to Southern Stylista! Home sweet home to all the musings of a Southern college gal (That's me!). My name is Jade and I am from the wonderful city of Huntsville, Alabama. Although, I have currently flown even further south for the winter as I've spread my wings in pursuit of a degree in Fashion Marketing and Management at the Savannah College of Art and Design (more commonly referred to as SCAD). I decided to start this blog as my attempt to create a splash in the fashion blog world, and to give you a little insight to all things Southern! Expect to see a little bit of this and a little dash of that on Southern Stylista. Anything from the latest styles this season and home decor, and little DIY projects to fabulous southern delicacies (we Southern girls know a little somethin' about eating!) to make an appearance on Southern Stylista's pages, among other things as well! That's all for post number one, but don't be a stranger! Leave some comments and share your thoughts! Is there anything else you would like to see on Southern Stylista?

Buh-Bye for now!
